To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining these inspection ratings. One key factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these are quite insignificant. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing grade. In that area, we gave this facility an A+. Our nursing score is based on several components, most of which are based on nursing hours. This particular nursing home provided 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

In the third category we assessed, this nursing home was given strong marks in the category of short-term care. Consequently, it was given one of our highest grades in that category with a of A+. Our short-term care scores are likely more meaningful for residents requiring rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation typically utilizes higher levels of skilled nursing services. This means not merely nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final metric we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to return home from the facility. We found that 7 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

The last category we assessed is long-term care, where this facility was given an A. This topped off an elite report card. Very few nursing homes received an A- or better in each of our categories. For prospective patients seeking a permanent place to live rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are a key measure. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination data. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this facility provided vaccination data. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
